CORN, rice, wheat

My work has always been inspired by a regional synthesis (Tornado Series, Mississippi River series, or Waterfalls of the North Shore of MN).   I have worked in series, in depth, a minimum of ten years per series, and intend for my upcoming series to be added to my repertory of studio works,  to initiate each of the three images ideas, corn, rice, wheat, to consciously develop new studio techniques in paintings and drawings, printmaking, photography, …yes this has been a life of sacrifice, but also a life of engagement at times with family, collectors, museums,  community, world, politics, aesthetic provocations…and I have started with this new series (CORN) to create a long lasting, in-depth series to explore the larger world context that we live in.

I desire for my new work to be an accumulated  sense of hope, wonder and creative strategy. To engage with my national colleague's networks, developing through my engagement with Chicago based, KleinArtistWorks  for dialog and national exhibition opportunities. Having time to complete the large scale paintings on canvas, in the Corn theme, and find new audiences that will support my ongoing dialogs with nature and environment, history and a global theme as part of my vocabulary for my emerging new works.  To travel again to Oaxaca to work with a private printmaking atelier I spoke to , and was invited to work with by the master printmaker, to create prints and to explore more visits to NYC, and possibly LA, CA.
